Daisy Chains
I paint daisy chains to be more than floral motifs - they are symbols of connection, identity and the strength found in belonging.
For me, the repetitive act of painting daisies becomes a way of unpacking themes of adoption and motherhood. Each chain a continuum that links past to present and seems to hold global understanding.
Daisies, simple and unassuming, hold a kind of childhood nostalgia - associated with play, imagination and the earliest understandings of relationships.
In my work, the daisy chain becomes a metaphor for the bonds we create: some chosen, some given, some taken.
As an adopted person, that sense of connection has always carried layered meaning. The daisy chain reflects the idea that family can be formed through love as much as through lineage and relationships built, repaired or reclaimed.
